You Are God’s Masterpiece

Ephesians 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

One of the biggest hurdles we have in our lives (if you are a believer) is when we feel defeated and useless to God because of our past. We all have a past. In fact, Satan likes to “remind” (actually accuse and slander us) us of our past. This often makes Christians totally useless for the Kingdom of God. Satan likes to remind us of our backgrounds and our upbringing. He likes to remind us of failures (divorces, criminal activities, lying, or any sin that is in our past). These accusations make us feel inadequate to share our faith or even to serve others. All of this though is not what God has in mind for His children. God calls us His masterpiece. He made you. He loves you. And most importantly, He died for you.

The way that each one of us was raised has had some effect on the person we currently are. If you were raised in a positive environment where you felt loved, praise the Lord. However, many adults look back on their childhood and feel pain or hurt for their upbringing. Look around you on any given day, and you’ll find people who feel they will never be good enough to be truly of value.

However, God says we need only to receive His love and accept what He’s done for us to gain full acceptance in His kingdom. God the Father doesn’t base our worth on performance, achievements, friends, possessions, or appearance. He bases it on whether we know, follow, and trust Jesus Christ as Lord.

Now, do you base your self-esteem on the world’s opinion, which is often shallow, wrong, and more detrimental than it is helpful? Or is your sense of self-worth defined by God’s opinion, which is eternal and always for your benefit?

The apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Ephesus: “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them” (Eph 2:10). Perhaps no verse in the Bible so clearly expresses what you mean to God. You did not just come into being by chance or accident. God created you. That is an amazing fact. If you are ever feeling down about your life, just remember that the God that created the universe, made you to be his workmanship.

God has a plan for your life. If we just understand this simple fact, it will give us the confidence to allow God to mold us in the way He wants us. God does not make junk and each of us is so valuable to God. He doesn’t want us to get bogged down in the things of this world and miss out on our calling from Him. My prayer for you this day is that you may search for and strive to allow God to mold you into His masterpiece.
