5 Facts Christians Should Know About Eternity

Every Christian should know about their future in eternity.  Here are five facts Christians should know.

They’re as Good as in Heaven

God says things that are not yet as though they already are (Rom 4:17) and maybe that’s why Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:4-7 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,  so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”  Paul writes as if we are already seated with Christ in the heavenly places because in God’s eyes, we are already as good as there!

God’s Word is True

When we read the Bible, we should know with absolute 100% certainty that it is God speaking and that His Word is without error.  This means that God’s Word is true and will always be true for all time.  It doesn’t change with the times or with society.  Paul reminds Timothy that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim 3:16). All in the Greek means, not surprisingly, all!  Not just parts of it, not just segments of it, but every Word of God is true, is from God, and cannot be in error.

We have Already Been Judged

When Christ returns to judge the world, we shouldn’t be anxious about whether we’ll be entering the kingdom of heaven or not because 2 Corinthians 5:21 says that is was “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”  When we die or if Christ returns before we die, the Father won’t see us as sinners but when He looks at us He will see us as having Jesus’ own righteousness.

We Will See our Lost Loved Ones

Many of us have lost loved ones but if they had repented and trusted in Christ but the fact is that we will see them again.  After King David lost his precious infant son He knew for a certainty that he would see him again saying “But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me” (2 Sam 12:23).  Paul wrote that “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known” (1 Cor 13:12).

Your Names Are Written in Heaven

Did you know that if you are a believer, your name is recorded in heaven?  The author of Hebrews writes “to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven” (Hebrews 12:23).  Did you know that your name is recorded in the Book of Life (Phil 4:3)? Jesus reminds us that “In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14:2-3).  Believe it because Jesus says it!
