3 Prayers For Protection From The Enemy

Here are three prayers for protection from the Enemy and his wicked minions, the demons.

To Recognize the Enemy

Righteous Father, I ask You to help me see the Enemy when he attacks so that I can recognize when he does. I know that I fight an invisible foe who is stronger than I. I am wrestling not against flesh and blood but against the powers of darkness and the rulers of evil, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers in the present age. I understand that I am fighting against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Eph 6:12). Thank You, God, for providing the armor I will need today and everyday, including the breastplate of righteousness You provided, the belt of truth, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word (Eph 6:13-17). In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

When Entering Enemy Territory

Father God, please help defend me today when I enter enemy territory in this world. If I share the gospel with the lost, I know that I am opposing the prince of darkness and his wicked army of demons and am entering his realm. Jesus, I know that I am like a lamb among the wolves (Luke 10:3). But I also know that the demons are subject to You, Lord, (Luke 10:17), that no enemy who opposes me will prevail because I have Your own authority to take the gospel into the kingdom of darkness, that you have given us power over the enemy (Luke 10:19), and that “no weapon turned against [me] will succeed” (Isaiah 54:17). Because You have defeated the enemy at the cross, I am asking You to protect me from those who would be against me, including those under the sway of Satan, as it is for Your purpose that I go today and every day to seek the lost; that I can have the power that comes from the Holy Spirit and the power and authority that come from You to be Your witnesses in all the world (Acts 1:8); and that you go with me wherever I go today and are with me even until the end of this present age (Matt 28:20). In the Sovereign King of kings and Lord of lords’ name, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Greater is He that Is in You than He that Is in the World

Father God, I know that Your Spirit within me is greater than he, the evil one, that is in the world (1 John 4:4), and this enemy presently holds those who are blinded held captive because “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Cor 4:4). Please help me “that Satan might not outwit [me and that I am] not unaware of his schemes” (2 Cor 2:11). He has surely never given up on trying to hold captive those who are still in his sway, and many cannot “escape from the snare of the devil” (2 Tim 2:26), who has held hostage the whole world (Rev 12:9) except those who have been set free by Your Son, Jesus Christ. Please help me to know that I am secure in Your hands (John 10:28-29) and to not fear what man or the enemy can do, for since You are for me, who could ever oppose me (Rom 8:31). For this I thank You, dear Lord and Great God. In the precious name of the Lamb of God, Who died for me, I pray. Amen.

Conclusion

Every day we know that, for the most part, we are entering enemy territory, and he has set traps and snares for us to fall into, but that’s why Jesus said we should pray that God deliver us from temptation and the evil one (Matt 6:13). Pray for protection from the enemy every day when you think of it because Satan is like a roaring lion, roaming about, seeking whom he can devour (1 Pet 5:8).
