3 Reasons I Can’t Live Without Prayer

Here are three reasons we can’t live without prayer.

Your Lifeline

Most of us have cell phones today and don’t leave home without them. Other people have an emergency communicator hanging around their neck which they can press any time they’re having an emergency. These are especially important for the elderly, but you too have a lifeline that is better than calling 911. Prayer is the unlimited calling plan of God giving you 24/7 access for normal requests but also useful for emergencies.

Your Provider

God knows that we have daily needs but also needs that extend beyond today, but we can become anxious very easily when financial problems arise. Jesus would remind us to simply, “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they” (Matt 6:26)? Of course we’re of more value than they are, and you don’t ever see a bird begging for food. When you have need, just pray to God to provide it because He is always there to pray for help, or for our daily bread (Matt 6:11).

Your Redeemer

Part of the reason we should want to pray is to praise Him for the free gift of eternal life (Eph 2:8-9). Job, the ancient patriarch, said “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth” (John 19:25), and as Jeremiah the Prophet promised of Judah, “Their Redeemer is strong; the Lord of hosts is his name. He will surely plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth” (Jer 50:34) so Jacob (Israel) “remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God their redeemer” (Psalm 78:35). Don’t forget to give God thanks for that.

Conclusion

God is not just your emergency lifeline, He is also your provider, both today and in the future, but He is also our Redeemer in Jesus Christ, being born of a virgin, taking on the likeness of man, living a sinless life, and suffering and dying at the hands of evil men, and resurrected on the third day. But, because He lives, we can also live.
