3 Things Every Christian Should Do

Here are three things that I believe every Christian should do.

Be a Witness

Jesus says that we are to be salt and light to a dead, decaying, darkened world, so being salt and light is just what this world needs, however if the salt has lost its saltiness, it’s useless (Matt 5:13) and a light that remains under a basket doesn’t help much. Jesus tells us, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden,” (Matt 5:14), meaning our witness should be so strong that people can look at us and see Christ and it can’t be hidden, however this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be using words, because faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Rom 10:17).

Be the Body

If we are to be the Body of Christ, the church, we should be doing what Jesus’ body would be doing if He were still here on earth. When Jesus returns to reward the church for their faithfulness to Him, some of these saints of God will hear Jesus say, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me” (Matt 25:35-36), but when these saints don’t remember doing all of these things, Jesus reminds them, “as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me” (Matt 25:40). That’s what the church, the Body of Christ, is called to do.

Be Ye Holy

The Apostle Peter reminds the church (meaning, us) to “conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile” (1st Pet 1:17), because “you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot” (1st Pet 1:18-19). Knowing that we were redeemed by Christ’s blood and saved from the fires of hell, we should understand that “he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy” (1st Pet 1:15-16).

Conclusion

Every believer should be a witness for Christ because we’re commanded to be (Matt 28:18-20), and to be the Body of Christ, doing the things that Jesus would do if He were still here on earth, but also to live a holy life. We should strive to live in holiness because God didn’t save us to live the lives we used to live.

May God richly bless you,
