3 Ways To Witness Without Saying A Word

You might be the only Bible that some people will ever read!

Reading Your Life

As I said in the introduction, you might be the only Bible that some people will ever read. They read you for what you are, not by what you say. If the Word abides in us, we will produce fruit (John 15:4). If you are abiding in the Word, then the Word will be abiding in you and people will see that you live what you read. There is hope even for the one who is married to an unbeliever, as Peter writes, “… wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives” (1 Pet. 3:1), but this does not guarantee he will be won to Christ.

Hearing Your Words

If you have family, friends, and co-workers who are not saved but they know you are, they might expect you to be a little more patient with people. If a person claims to be a child of God, then you’d expect them to act like one. Children often have attributes of their parents, and if a person is born again, they will have some of the same characteristics of their Heavenly Father. They are watching you, listening to you, and hearing what you say to others and the way you talk to people. It is an opportunity to witness to someone or others without telling them directly about Christ.

Seeing Your Actions

Your actions might speak loudest of all. I know that children often can’t hear what their parents are saying because their actions are drowning out their words. In other words, they are being impacted more by what you do than by what you say. Years ago I had our Sunday school class go to a nearby park and pick up trash. The few people that were at the park on that Sunday morning couldn’t figure out why we were doing something like that. One parent asked why we were picking up trash in the park, and I let the child answer, who said that we are trying to be good stewards of that which God has entrusted us.

Conclusion

You can certainly witness to someone without ever saying a word, but that doesn’t mean you don’t ever share the Gospel. The point is that you can be a witness for Christ by the way you live your life, by the words you use, and by what you do. Actions do speak louder than words, so let your actions speak for a life that is dedicated to serving Christ. Perhaps others can be witnessed to without you ever saying a word.

May God richly bless you,
