Here are four interesting facts about the end times from the Bible that some Christians may not have known.
Heaven Comes Down
Many people have the idea that when believers enter heaven, they’ll go “up to be with the Lord” but heaven actually comes down to earth. Heaven is actually the New Jerusalem and John describes this event in Revelation 21:1-3 “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.” The idea that we go “up” to heaven is false but heaven actually comes down, and besides, heaven is anywhere Jesus is.
Jesus’ Immediate Appearance
Many people are looking to world events and biblical prophecy to occur before Jesus returns but the fact is that Jesus can come at any moment for His church. There is nothing that needs to happen before Christ can return. When we start studying prophecy and the end time’s events and try tying them into world news, we take our eyes off of Christ. Jesus said that He would come when it is least expected (Luke 12:40). Don’t take your eyes off of Jesus because He is coming in the clouds of glory at any time which is another great reason to warn those who are not yet saved.
Satan is Bound, Then Freed
When the millennium starts, many believe that Satan is once and for all gone but he actually is bound but then is released again after the millennium reign ends. This is written in Revelation 20:7-8 “And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea.” Naturally, Satan and his evil army is no match for God “And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and eve” (Rev 20:9-10).
There are Anti-Christ’s here Today
Maybe you’d be surprised that there are actually anti-Christ’s here today and even in the apostle’s day. John writes in 1 John 2:18 “Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.” Today there are many anti-Christ’s because John defines just how is an anti-Christ in 1 John 2:22 “Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.” That’s why there are many anti-Christs around today…in the form of the false cults, atheists, and agnostics. If anyone doesn’t believe that Jesus is God and the Son of God, they are an anti-Christ. The prefix “anti” simply means against so anyone against believing in Christ is an anti-Christ.
