Here are four reasons why you should brag to others about your spouse.
Give Them Credit
Make sure you give your wife or husband credit for all the things that they do. When they do something for you or someone else, make sure to give them the credit for it, not only to their face, but to others so that others can know why your spouse is the greatest. We have every reason to brag on our spouse and I’m sure you can think of several things to give them credit for, so why not do it?
They Deserve It
Why shouldn’t you brag about your spouse? Don’t they deserve it? I am sure they do, so make sure and tell others about your spouse and be specific about what he or she does for you and how they are such a blessing. I love to brag on my wife before others because she deserves it, plus we should be encouraging our spouses anyway, right?
Speaking the Truth
We are told by the Apostle Paul to be “speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ” (Eph 4:15), so tell others the truth about the good things that your spouse does. I like to do this in front of her and others so that others can see how much I appreciate all that she does for me and our family. There is no sin in bragging on our spouse. That builds them up and that’s what we’re supposed to do (1st Thess 5:11).
Shows your Love
By telling others how great your spouse is, you are showing them love. Love is more than just feelings…it is what you do, like bragging on our spouse and telling others how he or she shows love by his or her actions. Love is a verb; it’s what we do that displays love more than words, but words are important too, so tell others about your spouse and in front of her too, and by doing so, you’re showing your spouse (and others) about your love for them.
Conclusion
I don’t think we need a reason to brag on our spouses. We should have plenty of reasons to do so, but we shouldn’t need to have a reason to motivate us to do this, because it’s the right thing to do, so brag on your spouse because they deserve it, and give them credit for all they do, and speak the love in truth and by doing so, you show your love for them.
