You may have never thought about glorifying God in these ways but you can. Here are 4 unique ways to glorify God.
Being Persecuted Glorifies God
Are you kidding me? You can actually glorify God by being persecuted? Yes you can. Read what Peter wrote in 1st Peter 4:14-16 “If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.” Guess what? You get to glorify God by being persecuted. I’m not saying to go out and seek it but if you are living out your faith and sharing it, you will be, I guarantee it, persecuted but remember, this glorifies God and that’s why we’re here!
Confessing Sin Glorifies God
I had always thought that when we confessed our sins we brought Him shame because of our filthiness as sinners but just the opposite is true. Achan had disobeyed God when he stole some of the booty that was taken from Ai and when it became apparent that it was Achan that took it, Joshua told him “My son, give glory to the LORD God of Israel and give praise to him. And tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me” (Joshua 7:19). The word confess means “to agree with” so we agree with God about our sins when we confess them and then we can come clean before Him because He already knows about our sins anyway so why not confess them because if we confess our sins, we glorify Him.
Praising Him Glorifies Him
Something that we can all do and actually should be doing is praising our Great God for He is most certainly worthy so did you know that you can glorify God by praising Him? Psalm 50:23s says “The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me.” Why not say this Psalm aloud and praise Him because this gives Him glory “I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever” (Psalm 86:12). When you give Him thanks and praise Him, both give Him glory. God always seeks to have His name glorified so glorify God by praising Him and even singing worship and praise songs to Him. Always seek to magnify His name and “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name” (1 Chron 16:29a).
Glorify Him in your Body
We can glorify God by our actions as 1st Corinthians 10:31 says “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” The fact is that “you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1 Cor 6:20) and the price that you were bought with was very costly. You were bought with the precious blood of the Lamb of God. This means that you should “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God” Rom 12:1).
Conclusion
If you are being persecuted for righteousness’ sake, then you are glorifying God. If you are confessing your sins to God, then you are glorifying God. If you are praising God, then you are glorifying God, so whatever you do in deeds, food, drink, words, praise, singing, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
May God richly bless you,
