5 Reasons To Completely Trust The Bible

Here are five reasons that we can trust the Bible.

Thus Says the Lord

The Bible contains over 2,500 “thus says the Lord” or “tell my people” or similar sayings so the Bible says about itself, it is God speaking. Never does it say “thus said a man” because it isn’t man’s writings but as the Apostle Peter wrote, “no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” 2nd Pet 1:21). It is always like “The word of the LORD that came to Micah” (Micah 1:1) but never a word came from Micah or any man.

A Mountain of Manuscripts

There are more than 14,000 manuscripts and fragments of the Old Testament and New Testament manuscripts have been preserved by the thousands too with over 24,000 New Testament manuscripts, 5,000 of which date from the first century! No other ancient book has the mountainous manuscript support that the Bible has.

Archaeological Evidence

Dr. Avraham Biran was working in the Upper Galilee region where he and his team found written references to “The House of David” in both the Hebrew and Aramaic languages and Dr. Biran said, “This is the earliest archaeological mention of King David.” These inscriptions also mention part of the Royal lineage of Israel and other Jewish Kings mentioned in the Old Testament and in the exact order that they are mentioned in 1st and 2nd Kings and 1st and 2nd Chronicles.Dr. Avraham Biran was working in the Upper Galilee region where he and his team found written references to “The House of David” in both the Hebrew and Aramaic languages and Dr. Biran said, “This is the earliest archaeological mention of King David.” These inscriptions also mention part of the Royal lineage of Israel and other Jewish Kings mentioned in the Old Testament and in the exact order that they are mentioned in 1st and 2nd Kings and 1st and 2nd Chronicles.

Historical Veracity

Many of the ancient historians wrote about the severest forms of Christian persecution that were mentioned in the New Testament that occurred in the first century which took place in Rome, Antioch, and Judea (present day Israel and Lebanon) and included authors and historians like Publius Cornelius Tacitus, Josephus, Tertullian, Julius Africanus, Rome’s Suetonius (A.D. 110), and the Roman governor Pliny Secundus (A.D. 100-110), all of who wrote before A.D. 250 and several of these make direct references to Jesus to affirm the historical New Testament references about His life and death.

Prophetic Fulfillments

Biblical scholars say there are between 700 to 1,000 prophecies about Jesus Christ in the Old Testament and that for one Man to fulfill even 10 of them is beyond most of our minds to comprehend mathematically, and so it is no coincidence that Jesus fulfilled hundreds of prophecies and by doing so, God confirmed prophecy to be true and those yet to be fulfilled will come to pass.

Conclusion

I know the Bible is true and not just because of the enormous amount of manuscripts, archeological evidence, historical evidence, or even prophetic fulfillment of prophecies, but it says over and over again in the Bible, “Thus says the Lord” and so my conclusion is, “I had better listen to it and believe it and obey it.”
