Here are five signs that your spouse is happily married. Maybe you can add another sign.
They Feel Appreciated and Noticed
If your spouse receives appreciation for what they do for the family and for their spouse, you can be they sure they’ll show it. One of the greatest measures of a happy marriage is that the spouse is recognized and appreciated for what they do and often hears, “Thank you. I appreciate all you do.” You brag on them in front of others and in front of the children. That’s a rock-solid sign of a happy marriage.
They’d Rather Be With Their Spouse
Sometimes I’ve turned down invitations in order to spend time with family. If a spouse is continually seeking to be with their mate, that’s a great sign for sure because you want to spend time together. If the opposite is true and the spouse spends a lot of time away from their mate, that is a warning sign for sure.
They’re Still Attracted to You
To me, my wife has become more beautiful as the years have passed. I find her still very attractive, and I tell her so. She may not feel the same about me, but when you’re attracted to your spouse and they are to you, that’s a great sign of a happy marriage, even though to me a lot of her beauty is within but not to the exclusion of her outward appearance.
They Feel Respected and Admired
Husbands feel loved when they are respected, and wives feel loved when they are cherished. Men and women have different needs but both need to feel that they’re respected and admired as a husband or wife. This respect and admiration act like glue that holds a couple together during stormy times.
He/She Treats Your Family Well
Nothing can drive a wedge between a couple more than in-laws. When the husband and wife are the priority over their parents, then this is sure evidence of a happy marriage in most cases. This may be exactly what God meant when He said, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Gen. 2:24). A man should leave and cleave to his wife, that is leave his family and leave them out of personal issues within the family and cleave or cling to his wife. The wife should do the same thing, of course. When your spouse treats your parents well, I’d say this is a great sign of a happy marriage.
Conclusion
Marriage is honorable and God-ordained. Marriage takes a lot of work, and you only get out of a marriage what you put into one. I pray God richly blesses your marriage and that you will cleave to one another until death do you part.
