5 Creative Ways To Worship God

Here are five creative ways that you can worship God.

Pray back His Praises

I believe God desires that we pray and give Him praises from His own Word, and if you want to find some potently powerful praises, the Book of Psalms is it, having 137 verses out of 238 in the Bible on “praise.” If you want to really see the awesome attributes of God, read Isaiah 40:12-31, for “To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One” (Isaiah 40:25)?

Choose Joy!

The psalmist wrote “You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound” (Psalm 4:7), so I believe when we are joyful, we are worshiping God by showing that we are content in life because we trust His sovereignty (Rom 8:28). Just like contentment was a choice that the Apostle Paul had to make and who had to learn it (Phil 4:21), we must chose joy. Right after the disciples saw Jesus ascend up into heaven, “they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy” (Luke 24:52).

Meditate on His Word

This might be a lost art but the psalmist understood the concept of meditating on God’s Word. Meditating isn’t emptying your mind and focusing on nothing, rather, it’s reading God’s Word, pondering it, reflecting on it, and soaking it in. Second Corinthians 5:21 is one I love. This sounds very much like a prayer in Psalm 119:48 where he writes, “I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes.”

Worship Music

This one was obvious but didn’t want to leave it out. Try this; lay flat on the ground in privacy or your “prayer closet,” and then put on some worship music, and pray your praise to God in song. That is awesome worship for me. The psalmist nails it by writing, “Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the Lord; exult before him” (Psalm 68:4).

Shout to the Lord

Our worship leader is very biblical during worship services as he literally shouts praises to God. The Bible does say “May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions” (Psalm 20:5), so I suggest you “Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright” (Psalm 33:1). Why not shout? We’ve got a lot to shout about!

It made my job easier in writing this, but the points are; pray back to Him praises, chose joy and let it put a song in your heart, meditate on His perfect and glorious Word, worship Him in song and praises, and then shout to the Lord for He is good, redeeming His children through the Great Son of God, Jesus Christ.
