4 Clues God Has Something Planned For You In 2019

Here are four clues that God may have something planned for you to do in 2019.

An Open Door

If you are at a door and it doesn’t open, it’s not the door you’re supposed to walk through, but sometimes when you’re not even looking for an open door, one opens and when that happens, God obviously has something planned for you…but you still must walk through it. God will not force us to go through an open door, but if there’s an open door already provided for you, then by all means, walk through it.

A Heart on Fire

I love Jeremiah the Prophet’s writing, “If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name, “there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot” (Jer 20:9). That is what I felt years ago when God called me into the ministry. I thought, “No way would He call someone like me,” and that’s what most of the pastors I’ve talked to felt like too, but that’s just the point. God never calls qualified people; He qualifies people he calls. That call will put an overwhelming fire in the bosom of every one who is called by God to do something.

Divine Timing

When I was being called into the ministry, I came to a church to begin my preaching. I thought I was called to be an itinerate pastor or a pastor who goes from church to church, but on my very first time filling the pulpit for a pastor at a church, the pastor announced, that very day, that he was going to retire from that church. That’s when the church asked me to be their pastor but I resisted this call until finally the church voted unanimously to install me as their pastor. Only then, and still being reluctant, I accepted it…and I have been there ever since. The timing was all God’s because when I try to plan things like this, they blow up in my face. Not so with God’s call and His divine timing.

Testimony of Others

I heard several co-workers tell me, “You give a lot of counsel to co-workers here…I think you’d make a great pastor.” My answer was, “Yes, a pastor of disaster,” but they insisted that they thought I would make a great pastor. I know that only God is great but He affirmed my calling through the testimony of others. It took others to point out to me that they felt God might be calling me into the pastorate, and if not for their insistence, I might not have ever went to seminary.

Conclusion

There are certainly more than four clues that God might be calling you or me into something. He will most certainly provide an open door for us; He will certainly set our hearts on fire for whatever it is that He’s planned for us to do; His timing will be such that there can be no mistake about it; and when others confirm this call or any plan of God, then we must listen and obediently do what He has planned for us, even if it doesn’t make sense at the time.

May God richly bless you,
