Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’
Professional sports teams are constantly in a state of change. With modern day free agency, players move from team to team very regularly. Another way players are added is through the draft. The draft is always interesting because of the possibilities and hope that these young unproven players bring with them.
Often time’s players are chosen on their “potential” rather than their accomplishments. Some of these high draft choices become special players and others slowly fade away and out of the league as disappointments. Many never live up to their potential. How does this relate to you? In a like manner, many believers never live up to their potential. God gives all believers’ spiritual gifts and abilities that we are to use for His glory. All true believers have great potential in the eyes of God. Each member of the body of Christ is a very important part.
In the NBA high draft choices that are coming into the league need to develop and mature in order for their new team to have success. These players need to be committed to developing their skills and abilities. This development does not happen without hard work, diligence, and commitment. Our spiritual walk is no different. We are like these high draft choices in the eyes of God. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you have been given at least one spiritual gift. A spiritual gift is a special ability that God has given you to share His love and serve others. In Matthew 25, Jesus told the story about 3 servants that were given talents from their master. Each servant was expected to faithfully work and increase what had been given. In this parable, only 2 of the servants were found faithful. One servant was sternly rebuked for not using what the master had given. We all need to develop and utilize the gifts and abilities that God has given us.
Do you know what spiritual gift God has given to you? Are you using the gifts that God has given you? God made you unique and special for a reason. Tapping into that reason will enable you to discover the path to a life of unimagined purpose, impact, and fulfillment.
